Dating
Service
There are two
sections:
A:
DVLA service for Age Related and V765
registration scheme requirements.
The VJMC is authorised to:-
- Issue Age related certificates for Japanese
motorcycles to help obtain a UK registration.
- Authenticate V765 applications to help retain
the bikes original registration number for pre 1983 machines.
The VJMC cannot:-
- Date modern bikes post 1990 due to our limited
archive records.
- Find and locate bikes - The club does not have
access to the DVLA database.
- Get involved with any disputes with the
DVLA.
Requirements for Age Related
certificate:-
1. Proof of Frame and
Engine number.
Clear photographs of the complete numbers are required or if this
is not possible rubbings may be taken. If this is not provided then we will either issue a certificate
explaining this or in certain cases refuse the application.
2. Photographs of the
bike from both sides.
Please send at least 2 Photographs. The reason for this is so that
we can ensure most parts consistent with the year of manufacture, if a machine has been altered with parts
from different years or bikes, the DVLA might wish to class the bike as a special and issue a "Q"
plate.
3. A4 size covering
letter containing:-
-
Bike Make, Model and CC.
-
Brief history of bike.
-
Your estimated Year of
Manufacture.
-
Frame & Engine numbers.
-
Your Name and Address (including Post
code).
-
Email address or Phone number in case of
problems.
-
Club membership number (if
requiring discount)
4. The
Fee
The cost for this service is £35, however for our club members we
give a discount and the cost will be £22.50. Those wishing to become members of the VJMC may forward a single
payment of £50 to cover certificate and joining the Club.
Please send a cheque made payable to VJMC (UK) Ltd
to DVLA Registration

NOTE:-
We do not accept applications via email; all
applications must be posted to the club address.
DO NOT send any important documents, like
Driving Licence, current MOT, Registration or Insurance certificates. Anything you do send to the VJMC is
done so at your own risk.
Please allow a minimum of 28 days for the return of certificates.
The reason for this is that the work is done on a voluntary basis and requests must be thoroughly researched,
in some cases the investigation may involve locating records not held by the club.
Please be patient and
always send your application well in advance of requiring your bike on the road.
