'Tansha' is the magazine of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club. The title is simply a Japanese abbreviation for the word 'motorcycle'. Tansha was the winning suggestion from club member Nick Downs when the club ran a competition seeking ideas back in 2000.

The VJMC magazine is sized A5 and is published bi-monthly and averages 100 pages in full colour. Tansha is well supported by the membership of over 5000 who supply articles covering technical, event reports and local section reports.

The technical articles are comprehensive including serialised articles on full machine restorations as well as information on paintwork, plastic repairs plus many others.

The VJMC attends the major Vintage and Classic Bike shows as well as running its own events such as Uttoxeter, Lotherton, Stanford Hall plus many others. These events provide lots of material for Tansha by way of reports and excellent photographs.

The VJMC (UK) has been running now for almost 30 years and is well supported by over 40 local sections. The sections provide an excellent way for members to participate on a local level, taking part in rideouts and organised events plus attending monthly meetings. Many of the sections take advantage of the 'section news' in Tansha to keep members up to date.

Finally Tansha also includes the members services section where members who offer manufacturing, repair and reproduction parts can place their adverts. As the supply situation regarding parts becomes more difficult this part of the magazine can prove very helpful. In addition members can also advertise free of charge their 'small adverts'. This includes having a small picture included when offering 'bikes for sale'.

From our Editor, Dennis Lodge:
Features: the first copy of Tansha in our 30th anniversary year features a show report from South Staffs section who flew the VJMC flag at the Classic car and Motorcycle show at the N.E.C. in November 2011. Andy Titterton has provided the report plus there are lots of pictures from Andy and fellow member John Gould.  Nick Watson is close to finishing his Suzuki T10 restoration in part 4 and Ed Marston continues on the detail on his Yamaha XT500 rebuild in  part 3. In addition Brad Fleet provides a very helpful insight into putting together a tool kit. Meanwhile Terry Dunn was given (as in free!) a Honda XL185. Some interesting problems and solutions on the registration. By way of an interesting change, member Robert East reports on his 'Bike Safe' training day with the local police. Catching up on bike racing in 2011 Lionel Rimmer provides an insight into 'Thunderfest' and John Dalton briefly covers the 2011 Manx Grand Prix. Finally besides the section news Kent section provide an article on their Devon weekend while Taunton and Bridgwater have a rideout to Exmoor. In 2011 the AGM was held at RAF Cosford, the minutes in full, are in this copy together with two of the slide presentations.
Finally all those members that supported Tansha in 2011 by providing articles of over two pages in length will find in this copy your 'free membership' entitlement. Don't forget, articles of two pages or over published in each copy receive 2 months 'free' membership which is added onto your existing renewal date. Full details in this copy.
