Yamaha DT175
The Yamaha pictured here is a DT175 Trail Bike owned by
Neil Kidby, it is the early "twin shock" model. This bike was in storage
in the previous owners garage from 1983 to
2007 and has only covered 12,000 miles from new. Despite standing for so long, with no other
work except fresh fuel added, the bike started on its forth kick and ran perfectly, a sure testament to
Japanese engineering. Neil has repaired and repainted the mudguards, resprayed the frame, fitted new
tyres, indicators, mirrors and a new battery. The fuel and oil tanks still have unmarked factory
paintwork. A smaller rear sprocket has been fitted which means reasonable road speeds are achievable. The
bike was used in Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics Magazine for a buyers guide in the January 2010
edition.
