Paul Hawksworth's Honda VFR400
NC30
Hi there, Here's my Honda VFR400 NC30 acquired in early 2013 - A 1990 Grey Import
as seen at the Donington Park VJMC Classic weekend Exhibition amongst a good turnout of other VFR's and their
owners.
This was rescued from the cellar of a pub in Shardlow, whereas the previous owner had stripped it
down with the intention of repairing the motor (big end gone) and reassembling, but had lost interest - so
having dusted down a few parts here it is in the garage ready for a challenge.
Although a few parts missing and being required I downloaded the workshop manual
and went about the reassembly process , having never owned one of these prior it wasn't going to be easy
Luckily managed to acquire a replacement motor, and found it to be a Manx race
prepped one, just need to install the starter clutch etc and electrics.

So in between trying to complete a house extension I set about the project in
hand
Having assembled to a point, I needed to purchase a few missing bits, but this was
looking good and I was keen to keep this as standard as I could to preserve its originality
July 2014 saw its return to the road, here is a few pictures of its current
state - it's used rain or shine and has 65000 Km on it (although the engine in now not original) it looks
pretty well for its age and use.

Just prior to Donington, swapped the endcan for an Art Titanium one, fitted new
tyres Bridgestone BT090's, and now I tend to use the bike whenever I can as it's such an enjoyable ride

So from a bucket of bits and a bit of hard work in the garage I have what I would
call a keeper.
There's also some footage of its maiden ride out on youtube either search "VFR400
Belton Lanes" or try the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymBIXaPgNUQ
Nothing like the sound of a square four in action :-D
